Triangle Restoration Project

A two year public/private collaboration and hundreds of donors, large and small, brought Montecito’s “Triangle” back to life!

The 2018 Debris Flow destruction stripped away most of the vegetation and left the Triangle filled with mud, rocks and unpleasant memories, with no County resources to remediate the tragic eye sore.

Led and facilitated by the Montecito Community Foundation, with the Garden Club of Santa Barbara and Casa Dorinda, Montecito’s most visible intersection has been returned to a tranquil and verdant setting, with an oasis of drought tolerant native trees and plantings. The restored Triangle brings not only beauty but also contributes to our community’s demonstrated success in creating multi – disciplinary solutions to community needs and challenges.

The landscape restoration of the triangle at Hot Springs and Olive Mill Roads, destroyed by the debris flow, has transformed the intersection into an appealing garden of native and drought tolerant plants. Thank you to the Montecito Community Foundation for coordinating the project and demonstrating the resilience of our community.
